The hotspot tracker is an interactive map that allows you to search for dengue outbreaks and dengue hotspots near you. The data for Know Dengue's hotspot tracker is sourced from reports provided by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia via the iDengue website.

A dengue hotspot is a localized epidemic lasting more than 30 days from when an outbreak started.1,2

3.What is a dengue outbreak?
A dengue outbreak is an area where two or more dengue cases occur within a 200-metre radius of the index case within 14 days of the index case notification date.1

4.What does it mean if my area is marked as a hotspot?
It means that dengue case(s) have been recorded in your area within the last 30 days.1 This means that you and your loved ones are at risk of experiencing dengue.

5.How long do hotspots lasts?
The oldest known hotspot on iDengue has been active since October 2022.3 So long as active cases of dengue arise within an area, a hotspot may persist.1
Regardless of whether you live in a hotspot or not, practicing dengue prevention methods could reduce your risk of experiencing symptomatic or severe dengue.3

7.How often is the hotspots data updated and where does the data come from?
Know Dengue's hotspots tracker sources data from verified dengue case reports from the Ministry of Health, Malaysia. The tracker refreshes its data according to the reports released on iDengue website.

8.Can dengue occur outside of hotspots?
Yes. Dengue is endemic in Malaysia which means that dengue is always around all times of the year.4 Dengue can be present in areas not classified as hotspots and outbreak zones. Dengue can strike at any where there are Aedes mosquitoes.5 Read more about dengue prevention here.
